About the challenge

When can I sign up?

You can sign up any time before 31 May 2021, but we recommend you do so as soon as possible to give yourself more time to get your miles in!

How do I sign up?

Select register and follow the simple instructions to choose your distance and create your fundraising page.

When can I start tracking my miles?

You can start tracking and racking up the miles as soon as Tour de Walkshire starts on 1 May 2021.

Do I have to complete my chosen distance in one go?

No, you can choose to spread out your miles over the month or do it all in one go. All we ask it that you have completed your total distance by 31 May 2021.

Do I have to complete the distances highlighted on your website?

No, the distances we have highlighted are there to inspire you - you can choose to complete one of these or set your own goal.

Can I change my target distance?

You can change your target distance at any point during the challenge.

To do this, go to your dashboard and select "My fitness activity". Here you can log your miles, connect your fitness apps and change your target distance.

Don't forget to update the title and description of your fundraising page with details of the challenge/distance you are taking on, so friends, family and colleagues can get behind you.

Can I still claim a free T-shirt?

Yes - however we have now run out of Tour de Walkshire T-shirts. If you are signing up today then you will receive a Yorkshire Cancer Research T-shirt instead.

When you sign up to Tour de Walkshire you'll be asked which t-shirt size you'd like. We'll then send you your Yorkshire Cancer Research T-shirt - please allow 10-14 days for delivery. Contact events@ycr.org.uk if you have not received your T-shirt within 14 days of signing up.

My T-shirt is the wrong size. Can I change it?

Of course. If you find your t-shirt is the wrong size please drop us an email at events@ycr.org.uk, send the wrong size back to us and we will send you out the correct size. To try and avoid this situation please take a look at the size guide below.

How do I claim my free water bottle and Y badge?

Once you have raised £250 the events team will be notified and will send you a water bottle and Y badge. Contact events@ycr.org.uk if you have not received these by the end of June 2021.

Can I take part in a team?  

Of course. The more the merrier! But please refer to government guidelines around exercising in groups.

How do I join a team?

Teams are a great way to take part in Tour de Walkshire as you can motivate each other and clock up the miles as a group. How you join a team will depend on whether the team is public or private.


If the team is public, you can search for the team’s name and click the “Join us” button. If the team is set to private, an existing member of the team can invite you by sending you a joining link. Simply click the link and follow the steps to become a member.

Are there any age restrictions? 

There are no age restrictions, however the free Tour de Walkshire T-shirts are in adult sizes only.

Can I travel to complete my miles?

Please check the latest government guidelines before planning on where you will complete your miles.

How do I join the Facebook group?

Join the Tour de Walkshire Facebook group here. You’ll need to be logged into your Facebook account.

Fundraising

How do I update my fundraising goal?

You can update your fundraising goal at any point during the challenge. Once you have logged into your account, visit your Dashboard and click "Edit Dashboard" to change your target.

Can I accept cash/cheque donations? 

If you receive a cash donation, please pay it into your personal account and make a donation to your fundraising page.

How can I contact you?

The best way to contact us is by emailing events@ycr.org.uk and we'll do our best to get back to you within 24 hours, Monday to Friday.

How do I reset my password?

Login to your Tour de Walkshire account and head to your dashboard. Click on ‘My account’ and select ‘Reset Password’.

How do I track my miles?

To keep your friends and family updated on your progress you can add your miles to the distance tracker on your fundraising page. Here’s how.

Track your miles automatically:

If you track your miles with FitBit or mapmyfitness your distances will automatically be added to your fundraising page.

1. Download the FitBit, or mapmyfitness app and set up your account.
2. Log into your Tour de Walkshire fundraising page.
3. Under the heading ‘My Fitness Activity’ click your chosen app.
4. Follow the prompts to connect your account.
5. When you next want to track your miles, select start your workout in the app on your phone. As soon as you have finished, save your workout and your distance will automatically be published to your fundraising page within 24hrs.
If you are using an alternative method to track your miles you can manually add your distance to your fundraising page.

Manually add your miles:

1. Log into your fundraising page and select ‘My Fitness Activity’
2. Under ‘Add activity’, enter the date and distance.
3. The number of miles will now appear on your fundraising page.
