I’m taking part in Tour De Walkshire
Every week in Yorkshire nearly 600 people are told they have cancer. Yorkshire Cancer Research is an independent cancer charity funding pioneering research to prevent, diagnose and treat this condition.
This May they’ve teamed up with Welcome to Yorkshire for Tour de Walkshire. I’ve chosen my distance and will be walking to raise money for this vital cause. Please support my efforts and help more people in Yorkshire survive cancer.

DISASTER and disappointmentThursday 27th May Disappointingly I have had a nasty fall on the pavement on my way to a meeting this Tuesday and have injured myself. I am in a lot of pain from bruising in my arm and shoulder and need to rest. This means I probably won’t reach my target during May, despite being on track to achieve it before my accident. I’m so disappointed and feel really bad to now be falling behind on the miles, but I will have to wait to recover and then complete the challenge as soon as I’m well enough to get some miles in again. 3/4 completedSunday 23rd May After a few difficult days due to rain and feeling a bit under the weather myself, meaning a few 1 miles and 2 miles here and there last week we’ve cracked on this weekend with some lovely longer walks and I am now at 75 miles out of my 100 target.
First daySaturday 1st May Kicked off our 100 miles target with a favourite walk today, up Ashdale, down Beckdale 6.4 miles round route from the doorstep in Helmsley. MapMyFitness is linked up and working and noted our steady pace! Share
GenerositySaturday 17th Apr Wow! I’m so inspired by everyone’s generosity, such amazing support for Yorkshire Cancer research. Donations to date will already fund something like a mobile CT scan. Early detection is critical to saving lives. I’m so excited that a small challenge like this can generate funds and thank everyone for your help. I’ve increased my personal fundraising goal, which is super exciting. Share
Tour de Walkshire 2021Sunday 11th Apr Both my parents have had life saving treatment for cancer in recent years. Dad was saved by an early diagnosis of bladder cancer and Mums breast cancer was picked up in a routine mammogram. The rapid and effective treatments they both received were amazing. Other family members and friends have lost loved ones to cancer and it affects everyone in some way. Yorkshire Cancer research is a fantastic charity helping fight this devastating disease.
