Tour de Walkshire 2021

My Activity Tracking

My target 75 mi

I’m taking part in Tour de Walkshire this year to help more people survive cancer in Yorkshire.

Every week in Yorkshire nearly 600 people are told they have cancer. Yorkshire Cancer Research is an independent cancer charity funding pioneering research to prevent, diagnose and treat this condition.

This May they’ve teamed up with Welcome to Yorkshire for Tour de Walkshire. I’ve chosen my distance and will be walking, running or cycling to raise money for this vital cause. Please support my efforts and help more people in Yorkshire survive cancer.

My Updates

F@@k you cancer

Saturday 29th May
The Sun was shining and today was a big push to hit my target. A morning bike ride 14 miles in the sunshine and worked  hard. My thoughts today were a big thank you to my sponsors that have helped me along the way. My other thought was with my mum who many years ago had breast cancer and was lucky to survive. Sadly she has passed away but I’m sure if she was looking down at me today she’d been very proud that I’m trying to do something to help others. I’ve really enjoyed this challenge and it’s helped me to lose weight and get fit. I also know that I’ve made a contribution to help others. I genuinely hope that I do not have to personally encounter such a dreadful and evil illness.

Tuesday 25th May
A quick stop on our way back. 3 miles walk along the front to add to my total.

Hampsfell ( Wainwright summit

Sunday 23rd May
A 10 mile walk today in awful weather wind and rain. Really enjoyed the walk even though my feet and legs are a bit sore today. Lynn and Zoe joined me on the walk which was to a wainwright summit. Not Yorkshire but all my
Miles  add up. Kick cancer in to touch!

Grange over sands walk

Sunday 23rd May
Had a lovely walk to grange over sands. Total 6.4 miles! Lovely evening walk.

Swim and walk

Thursday 20th May
A 1.60 miles walk and 1.25 mile swim.  Feeling good.

Monday 17th May
I sent out some emails over the weekend to a number of people that I thought would sponsor me and the reaction has been brilliant. I want to thank everyone that sponsored me so far I’m just to say this is really giving me a massive spur now to make sure I hit my target! THANK YOU

No outside today

Sunday 16th May
Decided to make things a bit different today I went to the gym to do some rowing. Road for 6600 m which is approximately 4 miles. That will do for me!  I’ve had a few extra sponsors which I’m very grateful for and that is going to spur me on now for this week thank you to them

Walk for fish n chips

Saturday 15th May
A lovely but chilly walk to fish shop for tea. A good walk there n back topped of with some great fish n chips. Feel happy as I’m trying to make a difference and help others!

Cycling for cancer

Friday 14th May
Decided to head up to Bamburgh to do some walking and cycling. Cycling was a challenge with a number of hills but the pain was worth it knowing because it will all add up to my target miles for my cause!

Day 6 harewood

Thursday 6th May
A really enjoyable walk made even better with members of the team! The weather was kind to us and the 5 1/2 miles past without even realising how far I’ve walked

Day 3

Monday 3rd May
The weather has been miserable today. Just a quick walk round the block but nevertheless 1.2 miles. Every bit helps

Day 2

Sunday 2nd May
Decided to hit Sunday with another walk to go towards my target.

Lynn came with me and we ended up doing 4.54 miles in total which again was it really good walk.

I’d already been swimming and did 1000 m so today’s been a really good activity day. Not only am I helping Yorkshire cancer patients but I’m also helping myself.

Day 1

Saturday 1st May
Today was the start of my challenge and I decided to walk to the place where I was going to have my second Covid jab. A good walk with 4 miles completed leaving me already one 10th of the way there!

My challenge

Friday 30th Apr
I’m really looking forward to doing this challenge but I’m also swimming as well which won’t be recorded. I hope to do every day for five days a minimum of 1000 m and also fitting in the miles that I need to do. Can’t wait to start on the 1st of May

Thank you to my Sponsors
