We Walk for Yorkshire 2024
This May I'm joining people across Yorkshire who are coming together to walk 31,000 miles to raise money for vital research which will help save lives in Yorkshire.
31,000 is the number of people who are diagnosed with cancer every year in Yorkshire.
People are more likely to be diagnosed with cancer in Yorkshire than in most other parts of England and, tragically, too many people die. Yorkshire Cancer Research exists to change this. With the help of people across the region, the charity funds vital research and pioneers innovative new services for people with cancer.
Every step counts, and every pound I am able to raise will help save lives in Yorkshire.

And just like that, the challenge is over!!
Sunday 2nd Jun So last week I shared that Katy was coming over with the little ones. Man, it was so great to see them and I did still manage a few extra miles BUT more importantly, got some more donations, yay 😁, that was the whole point wasn't it? It's been an incredibly humbling experience to join with such a worthwhile cause, especially as my efforts and my wonderful sponsors have contributed to raising funds for research and for providing new services for people with Cancer in this beautiful county and communities we are privileged to live in. Thanks for reading, supporting and well, just for being fab friends and family. Much love to you all xx ShareMonth end draws near..
Monday 27th May And with that, the challenge is almost over. Yesterday I got an email to say I'd gone past my target mileage ...twice! So will that stop me doing more 🤔. Of course not! Looking out of the window around 4:45 this morning promised a lovely sunrise which I couldn't resist admiring from outdoors. So off I went, trainers and fund raiser t-shirt on, run, run, run, taking plenty of photos along the way of course. Now, Katy is coming later today with the children to spend the week with us whilst the decorators do their stuff at their house. I'm super excited to see them and it's their first visit since we moved here in December. So my time may be a bit more limited this week but I'm still determined to contribute more to the overall challenge in these last few days. So, two targets to smash; primarily FUND RAISING and secondarily distance 🙌 ShareSunnier days (in the main)
Sunday 19th May Almost at the end of another week; they're flying by!! Having upped my target distance last week again, I was feeling slightly panicky. Well no need it transpires as with today's early morning run and walk to church, I've run over 75% of target and now have a mere 36 miles to go..yay 😁. Even more amazing is that thanks to yet another kind donation from Clive, a lovely running friend I'm very close to my fundraising target!! Amazing. I'm really so very grateful to everyone who's given or even just read my updates. ShareAll in a good cause
Monday 13th May Last week I clocked up a total of 45 miles but have to say that sounds a tad more than an average week. My (2nd) target of 100 miles isn't too far off so I'm thinking I'd better raise the bar a bit higher again. Yay, more miles to bank 😜...all in a good cause. Once I've posted on the socials, my target miles for Yorkshire Cancer for the month of May will be 160. As ever, I'm very grateful to all the lovely folk who have contributed so far. We've raised £94 so far together; there's a bit more to get to my £150 target. Please give what you can. It all counts for so much and helps to keep my focus and motivation going. Thank you ❤️ ShareOne week into the challenge
Wednesday 8th May Well the first week has absolutely flown by! Unsurprisingly as we were visiting our family when the month kicked off. I was delighted to get a couple of walks in - it's not always easy to do; fortunately my family are used to my "adventures" and humour me in this regard. I have already increased my targets, both for mileage and to raise funds...I'm so very grateful to have already received over half of my sponsorship target. Thank you so much to everyone who has donated so far; you're wonderful. Much love 💕 ShareDoing what comes naturally
Friday 3rd May I'm not usually someone who sets up a fundraiser because I know there are so many causes being supported already. Cancer is a huge killer. No matter where you go, you will most likely know someone or be affected by it personally. I want to do something positive for people affected; what better place than my local area. And how? Well, by doing something which comes naturally by me. I love to be out and about, walking or running; this challenge will give me a focus as well as benefitting others. I set a low mileage initially but there is always the option to do more...yeah, knowing me, I'll be raising the bar higher pretty soon 😁 ShareThank you to my Sponsors
