We Walk for Yorkshire 2025

This May I'm joining people across Yorkshire who are coming together to raise money for vital research that will help save lives in Yorkshire.

Every 17 minutes, someone in Yorkshire is told they have cancer. People are more likely to be diagnosed with cancer in Yorkshire than in most other parts of England and, tragically, too many people die.

This May, I would like to help change this, by taking part in We Walk for Yorkshire to raise money for Yorkshire Cancer Research. Thanks to supporters, the charity funds vital research and pioneers innovative new services for people with cancer.

Every step counts and every pound I am able to raise will help save lives in Yorkshire.

A little overnight trip to Ashbourne - with an afternoon walk to the pub for tea!

Day 14 - An evening stroll with pub stops!

Friday 16th May
Yes, it was a nice long walk...but the pub stops may have counteracted some of the benefits!  ...Maybe I should switch back to ice-cream stops :-)

Day 12 - Another evening de-stress Walk

Friday 16th May
Drove out to Burbage Edge and had a great sunset walk - heard Curlews, Pheasant, Grouse, Larks and a Cuckoo!

Day 9 - An evening mooch!

Friday 16th May
A lovely Friday evening de-stress!  Walked along the Rivelin Valley Trail then back up through woodlands full of Bluebells.

Day 4 Pond Survey

Friday 16th May
Off on an eDNA survey looking for Great Crested Newts...another opportunity to log some miles!

Day 2 - sans Solero :-(

Friday 2nd May
Another walk...resisted the pull of the Solero today!

Day 1 - Powered by Solero!

Friday 2nd May
I've kicked off the challenge by walking to and from work.  I was hoping the extra miles may help to shift a bit of weight, but it was hot...and a shop that I passed was selling Soleros...too hard to resist!
