What is Yorkshire Stars?

Yorkshire Stars is part of the Yorkshire Cancer Research 'Help Yorkshire Shine' Christmas Appeal, which aims to support people affected by cancer this Christmas. 

By dedicating a star, you can celebrate someone who has recovered from cancer, thank those who have shown their support, or remember a loved one who is sadly no longer with us.

How do I get involved?

You can get involved by dedicating a Yorkshire Star to someone affected by cancer. Simply upload a photo and a message about why you have dedicated a star to this special person.

Your dedication will then appear on the Yorkshire Stars online gallery. You can also opt for your star to be added to the Yorkshire Stars tree at the Yorkshire Cancer Research Centre in Harrogate.

When can I get involved?

You can dedicate a Yorkshire Star online anytime up until 3 January 2025. The stars created during this time will remain visible on the Yorkshire Stars online gallery so you can continue to view and share your star with loved ones.

Can groups dedicate a Yorkshire Star?

Yes, when dedicating a Yorkshire Star, you will be asked who the star is dedicated from. You can write your own name, a nickname, or the name of your group e.g. The Smith Family.

Where can I see my star?

Once you have dedicated a Yorkshire Star, it will appear in our online gallery. You can search for your star, share it with friends and family, or print it out and display it at home.

If you choose to, your Yorkshire Star will also be displayed at the Yorkshire Cancer Research Centre at Hornbeam Park, Harrogate. You are warmly invited to visit and see your star shining on the tree. You can view the centre’s opening times here.

How can I share my Yorkshire Star?

You can share your Yorkshire Star with friends and family via email, WhatsApp and social media. To do this, search for your star and then use the sharing buttons.

You can also download and print your Yorkshire Star, following the same steps as outlined above.

Use the hashtag #YorkshireStars on social media to join with others across the region and recognise those special to you.

Can I download or print my Yorkshire Star to keep?

There is the option to download and print your star, allowing you to keep a copy or display it at home. To do this, find your star and select the 'Download this star' option.

Can I get a copy of my Yorkshire Star posted to me?

Yes, please email supportercare@ycr.org.uk with your details and the team will arrange for your Yorkshire Star to be printed and posted to an address of your choice (UK only).

Can I dedicate more than one Yorkshire Star?

Yes, you can dedicate as many Yorkshire Stars as you would like. There is no limit on the number of stars one person can dedicate.

How much does it cost to dedicate a star?

There is no cost involved in dedicating a Yorkshire Star.
