About Yorkshire Stars

What is Yorkshire Stars? 

This Christmas, Yorkshire Cancer Research would like to join you in recognising someone who, in your eyes, is a real Yorkshire Star. It might be someone who’s had cancer or someone who cared for them. You may choose to remember someone special who is sadly no longer with you. Whoever you choose, let’s light up a star especially for them this Christmas.

How do I dedicate a Yorkshire Star?

Visit our Dedicate a Yorkshire Star page on our website. Simply design your star, add a message and upload a photo. 

We are also asking for a small donation for each star you create, which will go towards funding life-saving cancer research right here in Yorkshire.

When can I create a star? 

You can create a Yorkshire Star anytime up until 01 January 2022. The stars created during this time will remain visible on the tree so you can continue to celebrate and remember your Yorkshire Star. 

Can groups dedicate a Yorkshire Star?

Yes, during the star creation stage you will be asked who the star is being dedicated by. You can write your own name, a nickname, or the name of your group (e.g., The Smith Family).

Where can I see my star?

Once you have created your star, it will appear at the top of our virtual Christmas tree. You can search for your star and share it with friends and family via email and social media.

Your star will also appear on our tree at the Yorkshire Cancer Research shop in Ripon.  

You can join us for a very special evening as together we remember and celebrate your Yorkshire Stars. We will have carols and refreshments at the Yorkshire Cancer Research shop in Ripon.

How can I share my Yorkshire Star?

You can share your Yorkshire Star on social media, via email and through SMS. Simply find your star and use the sharing buttons. Don’t forget to use the hashtag #YorkshireStar on social media so you can join with others across the region in celebrating and remembering those special to you.

I can’t see my star on the virtual Christmas tree, where is it?

Our virtual Christmas tree will display the 25 most recently created stars. You can also use the search bar to see and share your Yorkshire Star.

Can I dedicate more than one Yorkshire Star?

Yes, you can dedicate as many Yorkshire Stars as you would like. There is no limit on the number of stars one person can dedicate. 

How much does it cost to dedicate a star?

We are asking for a small donation for each star you create, which will go towards funding life-saving cancer research right here in Yorkshire. The minimum donation amount is £1, however we appreciate anything more you feel able to give. 

Can I download my Yorkshire Star to keep?

If you would like a downloadable version of your Yorkshire Star, please email and your star will be sent to you.
