Yorkshire Stars Terms and Conditions

The following terms and conditions apply to the Yorkshire Stars campaign only.

This campaign is subject to the following Terms and Conditions and by taking part in the campaign you agree to be bound by them.

If you do not agree to any terms and conditions stated here or in specific terms given, then you should not dedicate a Yorkshire Star.

  1. By taking part in the campaign, you warrant to Yorkshire Cancer Research that all information submitted by you regarding yourself, and your dedicated star is true and accurate and complete in every respect. 
  2. When you dedicate a Yorkshire Star, the name of the individual you are dedicating the star to, your name (or the name you choose) and your accompanying message will be visible on the Yorkshire Stars website, as well as on any Social Media applications where you choose to share your star.
  3. All dedications must be received by 11:59pm (BST) on 01 January 2022 (‘Closing Date’).
  4. Yorkshire Cancer Research shall be entitled to assume that the parents or guardians of any entrant who is less than 18 years old have consented to that person’s dedication and will complete on their behalf. Also bill payers’ permission must be given.  
  5. Yorkshire Cancer Research reserves the right in its absolute discretion to delete any dedication if it believes that an entrant has breached any of the Conditions, any applicable law (including without limitation copyright law) or has infringed the intellectual property of any other person. Each participant acknowledges and agrees that any failure to comply with the Conditions may lead to Yorkshire Cancer Research removing the star, without Yorkshire Cancer Research being required to give any reason for such removal or granting any opportunity for challenge. Any donation connected to the removed dedications will be refunded upon request. 



  1. Yorkshire Cancer Research accepts no responsibility for stars lost, damaged or delayed whether due to transmission errors, website malfunction, computer error or otherwise.

Intellectual property rights and data protection.

  1. Participants agree to their pictures appearing on the Yorkshire Cancer Research Christmas tree in Ripon, as well as on the respective partners’ blogs, Facebook, Twitter, other social medias and marketing materials to promote the charity.
  2. Any personal information relating to entrants will be used by Yorkshire Cancer Research in accordance with data protection legislation in force in England.
  3. Where an individual is identifiable within an Entry – the individual must give consent for their photograph to be used for the purposes outlined above. Written consent may be required by the charity after the entry has been submitted.

Governing law and jurisdiction

  1. These Conditions and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or their subject matter, validity, termination or enforceability (including non-contractual disputes or claims) shall be governed by and construed in accordance with English law.
  2. The Courts of England shall have exclusive jurisdiction in relation to any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with the Conditions or their subject matter (including non-contractual disputes or claims).
