We Walk for Yorkshire 2025

My dad was diagnosed with bowel cancer in May 2022 and has luckily come out the other side with the all clear after an operation and going through chemotherapy. He now volunteers with Yorkshire Cancer Research and I will be joining him this May walking to raise money for vital research that will help save lives in Yorkshire.

Every 17 minutes, someone in Yorkshire is told they have cancer. People are more likely to be diagnosed with cancer in Yorkshire than in most other parts of England and, tragically, too many people die.

By taking part in We Walk for Yorkshire to raise money for Yorkshire Cancer Research, the charity that funds vital research and pioneers innovative new services for people with cancer.

Every step counts and every pound I am able to raise will help save lives in Yorkshire.

Walking on the Isle of Wight

Tuesday 27th May

Last week of the May challenge, and we are away on holiday on our favourite island the Isle of Wight. Just 10 more miles to go and I'll be at target.

First walk done

Walking for my Dad and Yorkshire Cancer Research

Wednesday 9th Apr

My dad was diagnosed with bowel cancer in May 2022. He was referred to Active Together in order to get fit and active ready for his operation. Since then he has been involved with Yorkshire Cancer Research spreading awareness of the importance of checking your 'poo' to catch any signs of cancer early, like he did. He now has the all clear after going through chemotherapy and continues to stay active and walks as much as he can.

He took part in Walk for Yorkshire last May, and this year I will be joining him, to raise money and get myself active again.
