We Walk for Yorkshire

We Walk for Yorkshire 2025

This May I'm joining people across Yorkshire who are coming together to raise money for vital research that will help save lives in Yorkshire.

Every 17 minutes, someone in Yorkshire is told they have cancer. People are more likely to be diagnosed with cancer in Yorkshire than in most other parts of England and, tragically, too many people die.

This May, I would like to help change this, by taking part in We Walk for Yorkshire to raise money for Yorkshire Cancer Research. Thanks to supporters, the charity funds vital research and pioneers innovative new services for people with cancer.

Every step counts and every pound I am able to raise will help save lives in Yorkshire.

9th June 2025 - My May Walk

Monday 9th Jun
I had a wonderful month of walking and mostly in sunshine. I walked in Sheffield mostly sticking to my Lodge Moor / Redmires route with a change now and then, like the Porter Brook / Forge Dam Trail. I also had two great walks with my daughter Emma, who was also Walking for Yorkshire. Our first was a trail on the Moors above the Redmires Reservoirs and the second along the Rivelin Valley Nature and Heritage Trail.  I had three days walking In Cheltenham, visiting my Son and his family,   walking routes I knew from when the family lived there plus strolls to parks and playgrounds with my Grandsons. For the last week and like last year we had a family holiday in Ventnor on the Isle of Wight. Again walking long routes, well known, mostly alone and then shorter ones with the family.                                                                                          A brilliant month.
Friday 2nd May
I do have a bit of a plan for my May walks!
Some days during the month I will starting from home and walking my regular Lodge Moor / Redmires round walk. There are lots of different routes to suit weather, time and enthusiasm on the day.  Other days I plan to go different walks round Sheffield and wandering about a bit.
# 1st May and 1st Day of the May Walk, sunny, enthusiastic after a gym session in the morning so I went on my round.walk, 6.7 miles, which is nice,
