We Walk for Yorkshire

We Walk for Yorkshire 2026

I’m taking part in We Walk for Yorkshire, the annual walking challenge organised by Yorkshire Cancer Research. I’ll be joining others across Yorkshire and beyond, to collectively walk 35,000 miles in May to help fund life-saving cancer research.

Why 35,000? That’s the number of people who are told they have cancer in Yorkshire every year. By walking in May, I’m helping save lives in our region.

By taking part, I’m helping to shine a light on the need for new and better ways to prevent, detect and treat cancer in our region.

By supporting my fundraising, you’ll be directly contributing to vital research and pioneering new services that will benefit people with cancer in Yorkshire now, and in the future.

Thank you for anything you’re able to donate. It will make a real difference.

My, Recovery

Wednesday 1st Apr
I was diagnosed with bowel cancer in December 2024 and Yorkshire cancer research were with me from day one.  They supported me with fitness in the gym and 1:1 training to ensure I was as fit as possible before my surgey,  also offered emotional support through a councilor.
After surgery and throughout chemo I had regular support from their dietitian  Carys, who guided me through the stages of restricted diet and back to eating normally as well as managing chemo side affects (My friend the purple bucket). After chemo it was back to their gym where I had 6 months of  group physio and 1:1 support from Ian and Gregg to help me regain my strength and stamina. I can honestly say the support was life changing I left the programme feeling stronger and more positive than I have ever felt.  I cannot express how grateful I am to of had the support from Yorkshire Cancer Resarch and can't thank the people that cared for me enough. So as May the 1st is also the date I finished chemo it feels like the right time to start giving back, il be trying my best to walk 100 miles in May to show my support and respect for my team and if I can raise any money towards helping someone else receive the care I did I will be proud as I know how much diffence it can make.
Please support me in any way you can whether it be financial, walking with me or just shouting encouragement from a distance everything will be greatly appreciated.
