We Walk for Yorkshire 2026

I’m taking part in We Walk for Yorkshire, the annual walking challenge organised by Yorkshire Cancer Research. I’ll be joining others across Yorkshire and beyond, to collectively walk 35,000 miles in May to help fund life-saving cancer research.

Why 35,000? That’s the number of people who are told they have cancer in Yorkshire every year. By walking in May, I’m helping save lives in our region.

By taking part, I’m helping to shine a light on the need for new and better ways to prevent, detect and treat cancer in our region.

By supporting my fundraising, you’ll be directly contributing to vital research and pioneering new services that will benefit people with cancer in Yorkshire now, and in the future.

Today as well as walking with Helen I was able to walk with Jayne, who I received the baton from on May 1st. It was great to get the opportunity to share our journeys of why we both chose to carry the baton for Yorkshire 😊

A lovely warm day in Scarborough with Cathy. Had a fabulous walk and a sit with Freddie Gilroy 😊 (3.94 miles)

Today’s been a day of reflection, a year today since my cancer journey began. A solo walk thinking about the last year. ☺️ (2.72 miles)

A lovely little walk round Kings Mill and Little Driffield, straight after work 😊 (2.10 miles)

May 18th 35 miles completed 😊

Monday 18th May

I’ve now done the 35 miles, so now I’m going to try and get to at least 50 miles, but would quite like to double my original target and get to 70 miles 😊

Vicky came through for a walk this morning. We ticked off some of the things on the We walk for Yorkshire Bingo Card as well as having a lovely chat 😊 (4.2 miles)

A second walk today. A trip to Rawcliffe Bridge to have coffee and cake from the Shanti Tea Boat and to do a walk along the Aire and Calder with Paul (2.0 miles) 😊

A slower 3 miles today, however it was lovely to be able to celebrate with Syd his 300th volunteer role at Sewerby. 🎉🎉
