We Walk for Yorkshire

I’m taking part in We Walk for Yorkshire, the annual walking challenge organised by Yorkshire Cancer Research. I’ll be joining others across Yorkshire and beyond, to collectively walk 35,000 miles in May to help fund life-saving cancer research.

I am doing this for my very good friend, Merys Liall, who passed away in 2024.  I am also doing this for my son in Law, Grant Dunning, who also passed away in 2024.

Why 35,000? That’s the number of people who are told they have cancer in Yorkshire every year. By walking in May, I’m helping save lives in our region.

By taking part, I’m helping to shine a light on the need for new and better ways to prevent, detect and treat cancer in our region.

By supporting my fundraising, you’ll be directly contributing to vital research and pioneering new services that will benefit people with cancer in Yorkshire now, and in the future.

Thank you for anything you’re able to donate. It will make a real difference.

Towngate Team Walk

Thursday 21st May
We’re delighted to share that the Towngate team successfully completed our walk for #WeWalkForYorkshire yesterday (20th May), in memory of our wonderful friend and colleague, Merys Liall.
It was a meaningful day spent raising vital funds for #YorkshireCancerResearch, and we were lucky to enjoy some truly beautiful scenery along the way. There may have been a slight detour when we nearly got lost (!), but we made it to the Old White Bear in Norwood Green right on schedule—for a well-deserved rest, a tasty tea, and a celebratory drink.
A huge well done to the #TowngatePLC team. It was a challenging route with varied terrain, but everyone powered through and finished strong.
We’ll continue to keep you updated on our fundraising progress. Thank you so much to everyone who has donated so far—your support will make a real difference in the fight against this terrible disease.
